Ayew: Second goal in two games for the on-loan striker
Crystal Palace secured a 1-0 win against League Two Grimsby Town in the FA Cup third round.
Roy Hodgson went with a much changed lineup, with Scott Dann making a return to the side alongside Martin Kelly. Pape Souare and Joel Ward completed the back four.
Jairo Riedewald made a rare appearance in the midfield and there was an attacking three of Wilfried Zaha, Andros Townsend and Alexander Sorloth.
Grimsby went down to 10 men after only 2 minutes when left-back Andrew Fox was sent off by referee Martin Atkinson for a high challenge on Townsend.
The player was only sent off after Atkinson originally waved play on after the challenge, and the incident was picked up by VAR.
The Eagles had 33 shots on goal during the game, but only 8 were on target, as their frustrations in front of goal continue.
After the red card Grimsby's game plan was to defend, and they did so resolutely, right up until the 86 minute when Jordan Ayew, who was on as a second half substitute, headed in Jeffrey Schlupp's free kick.
