Crystal Palace ended their losing run with a 0-0 draw away to Manchester United.

Roy Hodgson's men had lost their previous three outings, and had not won in the league since mid September, but they managed to claim a deserved point and should have picked up all three at Old Trafford.

They signalled their intent from the start, as up against his old side, Wilfried Zaha fired a shot from 20 yards that whisked just past the United upright.

Patrick van Aanholt wasted a gilt-edged opportunity shortly after that when set up by Max Meyer, only to fluff his effort inside the area.

Palace were given a scare when Chris Smalling headed off target at the far post when he should have done better before Wayne Hennessey dived low to keep out Jesse Lingard's attempt.

The Londoners got the ball in United's net just before the break after Cheikhou Kouaye headed in a Luka Milivojevic free-kick but he was deemed offside.

United also had a 'goal' ruled out by the linesman's flag after the interval when Romelu Lukaku strayed offside when he tapped home after Hennessey parried Ashley Young’s shot into his path.

Kouyate tested David de Gea with a long-range effort that the keeper pushed out and then blocked Van Aanholt's follow-up.

Andros Townsend should have scored for the Eagles after working his way through the United defence but somehow blazed his shot wide of the goal.

And Hennessey ensured he kept a clean sheet with a wonderful save to beat out Lukaku's header that was making it's way into the corner of the net.
