Crystal Palace conceded two late goals to lose 2-0 away at Everton.

The Eagles will look back on a missed penalty in the second half by skipper Luka Milivojevic as a chance to have gained vital points in what has become bad start to the season.

For most of the game, they dealt comfortably with Everton's attacks as Wayne Hennessey saved Seamus Coleman's effort with ease and the Eagles were also a threat on the break.

Tomkins nodded a decent opportunity wide of the goal and Milivojevic drew a smart save out of keeper Jordan Pickford with a free-kick the England man had to push out for a corner.

From the resulting flag kick, Palace midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate was inches away from grabbing the opening goal but he headed against the bar.

Richarlison nodded over for the Toffees, while Gylfi Sigurdsson fizzed a shot just past the post as the half eneded all square.

Palace thought they got the breakthrough on the hour mark after Coleman brought down Wilfried Zaha just inside the box for a penalty. However, Milivojevic's kick down the middle was blocked by Pickford's leg as he dived to his left.

Hennessey did well to thwart Theo Walcott who evaded the Eagles defence as the hosts began to up the tempo after Pickford's game-changing save.

Three minutes from time, Everton found the net as Ademola Lookman found fellow substitute Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the six-yard box, who got in front of Mamadou Sakho's slack marking, to head home.

Only at this point did Palace manager Roy Hodgson decide to make a substitute by bringing fit-again Connor Wickham on for the final two minutes.

In the 89th minute, Everton's third substitute Cenk Tosun latched on to a long ball over the top and beat a ball-watching Sakho to race clear and fire beyond Hennessey for 2-0.
