Bakary Sako
Crystal Palace's season goes from bad to worse as they were thumped 4-1 by Bristol City in the Carabao Cup fourth round.
Eagles boss Roy Hodsgon made 10 changes from Saturday's defeat at Newcastle with only Patrick van Aanholt keeping his place at left back.
And despite taking the lead with their first away goal since April 23, they were unable to capitalise on their early dominance, and in the end, were well beaten by the Championship club.
Bakary Sako's low strike on 21 minutes from Ruben Loftus-Cheek's pin-point through ball appeared to set them on their way to victory after a dominant opening.
Lee Chung-yong saw a fierce volley smash against the bar and Bristol keeper Luke Steele kept out efforts from Sako and Sullay Kaikai.
But disaster struck on 34 minutes after Van Aanholt's shocking header back to Wayne Hennessey gifted Matty Taylor the equalising goal.
Six minutes before the break, substitute Milan Djuric out-muscled Martin Kelly to divert in Hordur Magnusson's long throw into the box.
Defender Joe Bryan then fired a rocket shot from outside the box beyond Hennessey to stretch the hosts' advantage on the hour mark and put them in the driving seat.
And Callum O'Dowda made it 4-1 on 66 minutes with a low strike from the edge of the area to compound Palace's misery.
It worked out a comfortable win for City, who had also beaten top-flight sides Watford and Stoke City in this season's competition. For Palace, it was their fifth defeat and 16 goals conceded in seven matches.
Bristol City: Steele, Pisano (Paterson 65), Wright, Flint, Magnusson, Bryan, O'Dowda, Brownhill, Pack, Taylor, Diédhiou (Djuric 31, Bakinson 80). Subs not used: Fielding, Vyner, Kelly, Eliasson.
Palace: Hennessey, Fosu-Mensah, Kelly, Tomkins, Van Aanholt (Lumeka 82), Puncheon, Riedewald, Lee (Ladapo 57), Loftus-Cheek, Kaikai (Souare 64), Sako. Subs not used: Henry, Delaney, Phillips, Mutch.
