Managerless Crystal Palace moved off the bottom of the Premier League table after a 1-0 success at Hull.

New manager Tony Pulis viewed the game from the stands as caretaker Keith Millen signed off with a vital win - only Palace's second of the season.

The Eagles went down to 10 men after Yannick Bolasie was harshly dismissed for a foul late on but moments afterwards, Barry Bannan popped up to grab the winner.

Play was stopped just two minutes into the game when former Palace loanee Paul McShane clashed heads with Marouane Chamakh. Both sustained cuts that required bandages and Chamakh ended up having to go off in the 36th minute with Cameron Jerome taking his place.

In a first half devoid of chances, Kagisho Dikgachoi blazed over for the Eagles, while Hull's best chance was a deflected shot by George Boyd that Julian Speroni dealt with.

Seven minutes after the break, Speroni saved from Yannick Sagbo after he was fed by Boyd, while Bolasie should have done better when he drilled a shot wide of the post.

Then 12 minutes from time, Bolasie saw red for a sliding tackle on Jake Livermore near the edge of the area. At this point being a man down, Palace would probably have been grateful for a point.

However, three minutes later Jerome got past Tigers defender Maynor Figueroa to work his way to the byline and cut the ball back for Bannan to side foot home.

It was Palace's first goal since the 4-1 home defeat by Fulham last month and Bannan's first for the club.

Palace's hearts were in their mouths as Hull had two chances to score in added time when Livermore's effort was blocked on the goal-line and Liam Rosenior's follow-up smacked against the woodwork.

Hull: McGregor, Elmohamady, McShane (Rosenior 59), Davies, Figueroa, Koren (Gedo 77), Huddlestone, Livermore, Boyd, Brady (Graham 46), Sagbo.

Not used: Harper, Bruce, Meyler, Faye.

Palace: Speroni, Ward, Delaney, Gabbidon, Moxey, Dikgacoi (O’Keefe 75), Jedinak, Bolasie, Bannan, Gayle, Chamakh (Jerome 36).

Not used: Alexander, Mariappa, Phillips, Puncheon, Williams.
