Crystal Palace's play-off semi-final first leg against Brighton ended in a goalless draw at Selhurst Park.

The Eagles go into the second leg at the Amex on Monday likely to be without top scorer Glenn Murray who was stretchered off in the second half with a leg injury.

Brighton, who came into the match off the back of a nine-match unbeaten run, looked the more confident in the first half.

Leonardo Ulloa nodded wide before Palace keeper Julian Speroni was called into action to save Dean Hammond's header from a Will Buckley cross.

Palace's best chance was a drive from the lively Jon Williams and they had appeals for a penalty turned down when Matt Upson appeared to pull Murray back in the area.

The nervy Londoners improved after the interval and Murray was inches away from getting a touch on Wilfried Zaha's low fizzing cross from close range.

Danny Gabbidon saw his header blocked by Tomasz Kuszczak and Andrea Orlandi cleared in front of the line as the hosts started to gain confidence.

But in the 67th minute, Murray's sharp turn in the box saw him crumple to the ground and he was eventually taken away on a stretcher.

Despite the introduction of Yannick Bolasie and Kevin Phillips, the Eagles failed to find the target. Kagisho Dikgacoi almost snatched it late on but Inigo Calderon cleared the danger.
