Julian Speroni made his 300th Palace appearance
Crystal Palace's hopes of automatic promotion were dealt a setback after getting thrashed 4-0 by Birmingham.
Palace went into the Good Friday match at Selhurst Park knowing they could jump up to second in the table after Watford's draw with Burnley earlier in the day.
Despite a promising start, they conceded after 24 minutes when Nathan Redmond slipped his way passed Palace defenders on the edge of the box and fired into the bottom right corner.
Eight minutes later, they doubled the lead with an own goal from Damien Delaney who headed a Brum corner into his own net while challenging Nikola Zigic.
The Eagles began the second half well but let in another goal after 64 minutes as Ravel Morrison converted Mitch Hancox's cross to score past Julian Speroni, who was making his 300th Palace appearance.
Five minutes later, on-loan Newcastle midfielder Shane Ferguson curled home a brilliant 20-yard free-kick to make it 4-0 and complete the rout.
Eagles substitute Andre Moritz had a couple of chances to pull a goal back but the loss ended Palace's 18-match unbeaten league record at home.
