Palace finally beaten and knocked off top

Crystal Palace's brilliant unbeaten run came to an end after Leeds ran out 2-1 winners at Elland Road.

Championship leaders Palace had gone 14 matches without losing a game but typically it was Neil Warnock's Leeds who finished that streak.

The home team went ahead seven minutes after the break through Luciano Becchio. Lee Peltier's cross was headed across goal by Paul Green, Peter Ramage nodded it against his own player Mile Jedinak and Becchio finished from two yards.

Paul Green doubled the Leeds advantage on 75 minutes with a back-post volley from Alan Tate's long ball.

Ramage pulled a goal back for the Eagles four minutes from time with a diving header from Kagisho Dikgacoi's cross. And in stoppage time, Michael Tonge denied Palace a late equaliser by hacking clear off his line.

It was Palace's first loss since their Capital One Cup defeat to Preston on August 28 and they drop to second in the table behind Cardiff.
