Glenn Murray

Glenn Murray

Glenn Murray scored the only goal of the game as Crystal Palace beat Nottingham Forest 1-0.

Dougie Freedman favoured Stuart O'Keefe in midfield, and Sean Scannell made a welcome return after coming off injured in the Eagles' win over Manchester United in the Carling Cup.

With only four minutes played Murray tested Lee Camp in the Forest goal with a 25 yard drive.

Forest hit back through Paul Anderson and Garath McCleary but both their efforts were blocked, as Palace held on.

Ten minutes into the second half Palace took the lead.

A poor goal kick from Camp found its way to Wilfried Zaha who picked out Murray.

Murray managed to twist in the box and put the ball beyond Camp to give the Eagles a vital lead.

Forest boss Steve Cotterill threw on Lewis McGugan and Dexter Blackstock in an attempt to get back on even terms, and McGugan almost did that in the 77th minute, rising highest for a corner but his header went over the bar.

In the final seconds of the match a Blackstock header was denied by Julian Speroni, and Palace saw the game out to win it 1-0, and claim their first league victory in 8 games.
