Eagles run comes to an end

Crystal Palace's unbeaten run comes to an end as they lose 2-0 to Cardiff City.

Dougie Freedman welcomed back Mile Jedinak in midfield, and Sean Scannell up front as they attempted to continue their fine run of form this season.

The Eagles had the first chance of the match on 12 minutes when Scannell's 20 yard shot was pushed over the bar by Tom Heaton in Cardiff's goal.

Palace continued to dominate proceedings but the Bluebirds came close in the 24th minute when Peter Whittingham hit the crossbar.

Wilfried Zaha had a good opportunity on 41 minutes when he used his skill to get away from his marker but his shot was saved by Heaton.

In the second half Kenny Miller forced Speroni into a smart save.

It was Miller however who broke the deadlock for the home side when Kevin McNaughton found him in space in the area and his low drive gave Speroni no chance.

Freedman put on Jon Williams, Jermaine Easter and Steffen Iversen in an attempt to claw their way back into the match, but they were hit with a sucker punch in way of a Whittingham free kick, 10 minutes from time, which put Cardiff 2-0 up.

Dean Moxey had an effort which went over the bar in the closing stages of the match, but Palace failed to make any further impact on goal, and the match finished 2-0 to the home side.
