Crystal Palace's away day blues continued with a 2-1 defeat at Coventry.

The Eagles have picked up just one win on the road all season and the loss ended a run of four matches unbeaten.

Coventry were first out of the blocks as midfielder Carl Baker tried his luck from 20 yards but it was Palace who went closest to scoring in the opening half an hour.

Owen Garven, recalled in place of Alex Marrow, swung in a corner and Anthony Gardner nodded into the ground and off target.

The hosts went in front in the 34th minte as Richard Wood diverted Palace defender Paddy McCarthy's header past a hesitant Julian Speroni from close range.

Speroni palmed away Clive Platt's header, while David Wright cleared Richard Keogh's effort off the line as Coventry began the second half brightly.

Palace keeper Speroni twice denied Platt headers to keep the Eagles in the match after Wilfried Zaha had an appeal for a penalty turned down for shirt tugging.

And Coventry increased their advantage 11 minutes from time when Marlon King put away Aron Gunnarsson's cross from close range.

Substitute Steffen Iversen pulled a goal back in stoppage time for the Eagles but it was too late to spark a comeback and the 2,581 Palace fans who turned out in force for Palace on Tour Day went home unhappy.
