Crystal Palace were defeated 2-0 by Swiss side BSC Young boys in their second pre-season friendly.

Palace manager Roy Hodgson named a strong line-up for this second Uhrencup trophy tie in Bern.

But his team fell a goal down inside four minutes after keeper Vicente Guaita failed to latch on to a loose ball by Patrick van Aanholt and Nicolas Moumi Ngamaleu scored.

Young Boys extended their lead in the 30th minute when Guillaume Hoarau converted Ulisses Garcia's pass into the back of the net.

Palace: Guaita, Van Aanholt, Dann (Woods 67), Kelly (Riedewald 67), Ward, Schlupp, Milivojevic, McArthur (Dreher 86), Townsend, Sorloth (Meyer 45), Benteke (Wickham 67).

Not used: Henderson, Flanagan, Daly.
