Crystal Palace have released five players from the first-team squad.

Marouane Chamakh, Brede Hangeland, Emmanuel Adebayor, Adrian Mariappa and Paddy McCarthy have all been let go by the Eagles.

Chamakh, who was formerly with Arsenal, joined Palace on their return to the Premier League in August 2013 and helped the club secure their status in the division.

He notched 10 goals in 66 appearances but last season was blighted with injury and managed just one start and 11 substitute apps.

Veteran centre half Hangeland departs after two seasons at Selhurst Park where he was a decent back-up in defence, playing 26 games.

Adebayor's short-term contract expires at the end of the month and boss Alan Pardew decided not to extend the striker's deal after he arrived as a free agent in January.

Utility defender Mariappa was one of the many signings made by manager Ian Holloway following Palace's promotion three years ago but failed to get a regular run of games.

Popular defender McCarthy, who joined Palace from Charlton in 2008 and made 151 appearances, has not had his contract renewed after injury restricted him to just four matches in the last three seasons.

Young goalkeeper Chris Kettings has also been released by the Eagles.
