Former manager Tony Pulis has been ordered pay Crystal Palace more than £3.5million after a dispute over his bonus.

Pulis was due a £2m reward for guiding Palace from relegation certs at the bottom of the Premier League table to 11th place and safety in the 2013/14 season.

He was scheduled to be paid before the end of August 2014 but asked Palace co-chairman Steve Parish for the money earlier.

However, Pulis then walked out on the club just two days before the start of the new campaign, claiming disagreements over funds for new signings.

Parish believed he was misled by Pulis over the reason for the bonus payment being brought forward and took the case to an independent mediation tribunal.

The panel agreed with Palace and ordered Pulis to pay back his £2m staying-up bonus, £1m in damages, plus the legal costs for both sides. It is reported that Pulis was given multiple chances to settle but opted to go to court instead.
