Crystal Palace tasted their first summer defeat with a 3-2 loss at Brentford.
A stronger line-up to the one playing at Forest Green Rovers on the same day turned out at Championship new boys Brentford.
After a goalless first half, it was Brentford who got their noses in front three minutes after the interval with a curler from Jonathan Douglas that flew beyond Julian Speroni.
Andre Grey doubled the hosts' lead seven minutes after with a low strike into the bottom corner.
Glenn Murray converted Yannick Bolasie's cross with a neat finish into the top of the net in the 57th minute.
Marouane Chamakh levelled the scores by putting away the rebound after Bees stopper David Button spilled Joe Ledley's shot.
But Moses Odubajo scored an excellent individual goal to put Brentford 3-2 up and the victory to Brentford at Griffin Park.
Palace: Hennessey (Speroni 46), Ward, Delaney, Dann, Mariappa, Bolasie, Ledley, Jedinak, Puncheon, Chamakh, Murray.
Not used: Kaikai, Boateng, Gray, Inniss.
