PlanetFootball.com have reported that Palace are close to signing Polish international Arkadiusz Bak from Polonia Warsaw.

The 28-year-old midfielder was missing from Polonia's lineup against Widzew Lodz at the weekend, and Polonia's coach confirmed he was on his way to England.

Bak, who has six caps for his country, looks certain to play in the World Cup Finals in June 2002. Poland lead Group 5 - which also features Wales - by four points.
