Jordan to appoint new coach

Eagles chairman Simon Jordan is set to appoint former Wigan Athletic boss John Benson as joint first-team coach.

Steve Bruce is looking to strengthen his backroom staff after Mark Bowen was made reserve team coach.

Palace had already apointed Steve Kember and Terry Bullivant on the staff and now Steve Bruce wants to add Benson as joint first-team coach.

Bruce wants to bring in his own staff, but Jordan insisted that Bullivant and Kember are staying.

Palace are expected to make an announcement when the team return from the Marbella Cup, which they are competing for this week.
