Ipswich defender David Wright becomes George Burley's first signing.
Wright, 30, who joins on a two year contract, can play anywhere across the backline and will be a welcome addition to a threadbare Palace squad.
He told the Official Palace website: "I have played 80-90 per cent of my career in the Championship so I know this league very well.
"I think fans should be excited about this new era.
"When the gaffer was at Ipswich he did an incredible job and I spoke to the players who played under him there and they had nothing but good words to say about him.
"He told me he wants to play a passing game, moving the ball around quickly which suits me."
Wright started his career at Crewe, before moving onto Wigan and then Ipswich.
He played in 29 games last season for the Norfolk club and scored 1 goal.
