East Grinstead hit for six

A Crystal Palace XI side were comfortable 6-0 winners over East Grinstead Town.

Palace started with a line-up featuring Sean Scannell, Danny Butterfield and recent signing Matthew Wright.

The Eagles were 1-0 up on 18 minutes courtesy of a goal by striker Nathanial Pinney.

Palace continued to press in the first half but were unable to increase their lead.

However any chance of East Grinstead coming back into the game was killed off when Palace scored three goals in the space of seven minutes.

Goals from Scannell, Alassane N'Diaye, and Kieron Cadogan put The Eagles into a commanding 4-0 lead.

Cadogan got his second goal of the evening six minutes from time to make it 5-0, and ex-Boreham Wood striker Simon Thomas completed the rout on 88 minutes.

Right at the death East Grinstead had the chance of a consolation goal through a penalty but ex-Arsenal youth player Charlie Mann (on as a second half substitute) saved well to keep a clean sheet.

Palace: Flahavan (Mann), Abnett (Kenlock), Hills, Ertl (Adelakun), Trialist (Holland), N'Diaye, Scannell (Thomas), Butterfield (Nnanami), Cox (Cadogan), Pinney, Wright (Comley)

Goals: Scannell 62, N'Diaye 64, Cadogan 69 & 84, Thomas 88

Other reserve / Palace XI results: -

25/07/09 - Northwood (A) 0-1

25/07/09 - Sutton Utd (A) 2-0

27/07/09 - Croydon Athletic (A) 1-1
