Crystal Palace's reserves were held to a goalless draw against their Charlton counterparts.

The Eagles had to settle for a point after dominating the second period at Stonebridge Road with Addicks keeper Darren Randolph in inspired form.

Charlton had the better of the first half chances with Scott Flinders saving Alex Stavrinou's shot with his legs, then palming Scott Wagstaff's effort onto the post.

Deon Burton went close with two efforts before Palace emerged from the half-time break a totally changed side.

Simon Thomas and Johannes Ertl tried their luck on goal, while James Scowcroft somehow put James Dayton's corner wide of the post from four yards.

Palace had shouts for a penalty turned down, Randolph clawed out Thomas' goal-bound shot, then Scowcroft headed inches wide as the Eagles turned up the heat.

Randolph blocked two Thomas attempts either side of a shot from substitute Jamie Smith.

In the 80th minute Flinders was called into action to deny Burton before he was forced off injured and was replaced by centre-half Jerry Nnamani after Palace had used up all their subs.

Palace: Flinders, Abnett, Hills, Comley, Ertl, Nnamani, Cadogan (Adelakun 80), N'Diaye (Smith 67), Thomas (Pinney 80), Scowcroft, Dayton.

Not used: Holness, Roberts.
