Crystal Palace lose their third game in a row with a disappointing 1-0 loss to bottom placed Charlton Athletic.

Neil Warnock made three changes to the side which lost 4-3 to Watford in the FA Cup at the weekend.

Alan Lee was dropped to the bench in favour of Shefki Kuqi, and there were also starts for Sean Scannell and Danny Butterfield.

Charlton had most of the chances in the first half, and made Palace pay when Lloyd Sam beat Danny Butterfield, to cross to the back post where Clint Hill could only head the ball into the path of Matthew Spring who made no mistake from six yards out.

It was only until the 29th minute when Palace finally had their first shot on goal through Kuqi, but his effort ballooned well over.

Palace improved in the second period, but despite bringing on Victor Moses and Alan Lee to cause more problems to the Charlton defence, failed to convert any of their possesion into decent chances.

Neil Danns, also making a second half appearance from the subs bench, fired a shot over the bar in the final minute - which signalled another defeat for Palace and a big dent in their hopes for a play-off position.

Charlton: Elliot, Murty, Fortune (Holland 60), Hudson, Youga, Sam (Basey 84), Spring, Bailey, Soares, Gray (Dickson 75), Burton.

Not Used: Randolph, Shelvey.

Palace: Speroni, Butterfield, Lawrence, Fonte, Hill, Oster, Carle (Danns 82), Derry, Ifill (Lee 55), Scannell (Moses 55), Kuqi.

Not Used: Fletcher, Hills.
