Watson: New boys can help us up

Ben Watson believes Crystal Palace's three loan signings can help push the team into the play-offs.

Eagles boss Neil Warnock last week swooped for Chelsea's Scott Sinclair, Nathan Ashton from Fulham and Kyel Reid of West Ham before the loan window shut.

Although Palace were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Blackpool on Saturday, all three impressed and Watson is thrilled to have the new boys on board.

"We've had three lads come in on loan over the last week; Scott Sinclair, Nathan Ashton and Kyel Reid. All played their part on Saturday and did well," Watson told icons.com

"Everyone knows about Scott and what he's capable of and he showed it on Saturday. He is so quick, he's got really quick feet, takes people on and he can terrorise people.

"He's a player that gets everyone on the edge of their seats. He can help to take us forward and give us a bit of a push and the other two did really well too.

"It's good that we've got these youngsters in. They freshen things up a bit, it's exciting. Hopefully it will make a difference, especially as we've got a couple of injuries at the moment. It gives everyone a lift and with our last five games coming up, hopefully it will push us that little bit extra."

Watson and his Palace team-mates were fuming two "blatant" penalties were not given by the referee.

"We should have had two penalties against Blackpool - they were two blatant penalties," said Watson. "We never got them and we were disappointed because if we'd converted them we would have gone in two goals up. That can't be the reason for us not winning, we should have made more of our chances, but they were penalties.

"In terms of it being a point gained or two lost, well it was a bit of both. Of course we were disappointed not to get three points but we knew it was going to be a tough game. Where Blackpool are in the league doesn’t do them justice.

"Results went for us elsewhere and if we'd have got three points we would have been in the play-off places. It wasn’t to be though. Now we've got five games left so we have to go and give it our best shot."
