Neil Warnock has been announced as the new manager of Crystal Palace.

Warnock returns to management after leaving Sheffield United when the Blades were relegated from the Premier League in May.

The move to appoint Warnock comes as no surprise with his name being linked with the Eagles for the last few weeks.

This will be the 58-year-old's ninth club and he will be aiming to add to the six promotions won with previous clubs.

He took Scarborough into the Football League in 1989, won two promotions in successive seasons with Notts County and also guided Huddersfield and Plymouth up via the play-offs.

He joined boyhood club Sheffield United in 1999 and steered them into the Premier League in 2006. Even though United were relegated on the last day of the campaign, Warnock won many plaudits.
