Peter Taylor
Crystal Palace manager Peter Taylor has revealed his unhappiness at weekend reports linking Neil Warnock with the Eagles hotseat.
And the Selhurst Park boss has admitted he spoke to chairman Simon Jordan after claims the former Sheffield United manager is being lined up to replace him.
Taylor said he was aware last week of Palace being linked with Warnock, who left the Blades after they were relegated from the Premiership in May.
"I read the story, which was very disappointing," Taylor told the South London Press.
"Somebody rang me up five days ago saying what they had heard, so I decided to speak to Simon about it and he told me that it’s not true. As far as I’m concerned I’ve just got to get on with it."
Taylor is the ninth manager since Jordan took control at Selhurst Park in 2000. The South London Press tried to contact the Palace supremo, but he was unavailable for comment.
Meanwhile, Taylor is hoping the loan captures of Paul Dickov and Besian Idrizaj, from Manchester City and Liverpool respectively, will help his side back onto the scoring trail after two matches without hitting the back of the net.
"If people talk about us at the minute they say we look a pretty organised team but we’re not asking enough questions up front and I agree with that totally," said the Eagles boss.
"That’s the main disappointment I’ve got from the last two games and is why I’ve signed another two forwards."
Taylor also allowed two of his strikers to head out of Selhurst Park - Shefki Kuqi making a shock switch to Premiership outfit Fulham, while Lewis Grabban linked up with Motherwell.
Both players are due back in South London in January.
"Shefki wanted to go," said Taylor. "He wanted more of a regular start and couldn’t accept why I started with James Scowcroft ahead of him. He went a little bit berserk before the first game of the season but was still professional when called upon.
"He can still come back and have a Palace career - he’s definitely done better than he did last year. He’s either going to come back here or play so well at Fulham they sign him or someone else does."

Is that the most humiliating defeat in the club's history?
