Hudson - Scored the winner

Hudson - Scored the winner

Palace took three points in a 1-0 victory over Sunderland (Dec 22). The Black Cats took fog-all, reports Jamesey.

Through the swirling mist, a hideous vision emerged. Its eyes were blank and lifeless, and its yellow fangs grimaced in a death's head rictus.

Its eyes rolled obscenely in their sockets and, as the mist momentarily cleared, the ghastly spectre sent a leer of bottomless malevolence in the direction of the Main Stand.

And that was only Roy Keane on his way to the dugout.

Well, it was certainly a foul and freezing night for my first live game in over a month.

But it was well worth suffering the awful weather to win a match that we really didn't deserve to, against a side that traditionally gets the better of us most of the time.

When you are struggling like we are at the moment, three points are gloriously welcome however they are gained.

So often this season, the luck seems to lie with our opponents, so, lucky or not, thank-you Black Cats.

My good humour refused to be spoiled by a report of the game in Saturday's The Times, a newspaper I rarely bother to read any more.

I certainly won't bother to read it again after perusing the words of a sports reporter named Kaveh Solhekol.

He, she or it was extravagant in praise of the above-mentioned Roy Keane - "the man who can bring the good times back to Teesside".

Then, instead of doing its job and reporting on the game, it launched into a tirade against Selhurst Park, accusing the venue of having "a unique charm that can be only appreciated by supporters who like their football the way it used to be."

It continued: "Basic facilities, the worst toilets in the league...and catering that time forgot."

Mr, Mrs or Ms Solhekol, whatever your ethnicity, your name is unpronounceable, your views are inappropriate and irrelevant to your brief, and your reporting totally unprofessional.

Not to put too fine a point on it, stick your views up your pretentious backside or even better, emigrate to Wearside where the good times are coming and, I am sure, the toilets are bliss for you to use...
