Taylor delivers wake-up call

Peter Taylor told his dopey players to liven up after their mistakes gifted Colchester a 3-1 win.

Taylor was angry with the way Colchester were allowed to score through Karl Duguid, Richard Garcia and Chris Iwelumo.

Substitute goalkeeper Scott Flinders was at fault for the first goal, while the Eagles defence went missing for the second.

Palace, who were unbeaten in their previous four matches, have now lost six times at home already this season.

Taylor said: "We lacked an end product, and in the second half we lacked a bit of quality. We defended poorly and looked a little bit sleepy.

"We lost the game in the second half. We are improving and we played well in the first half but we needed a goal.

"I was hoping we would continue on our good run and get closer to the chasing pack which would help us tempt better players in, so we have to play better over the next few games until the transfer window."
