Peter Taylor branded his Palace players "unprofessional" after they slumped to a fourth consecutive defeat.
The Eagles' promotion hopes are in tatters after they blew a 2-1 lead at Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night, eventually losing to a last minute Steve MacLean goal.
Taylor has been unable to get results from one of the division's more talented squads and the Hillsborough defeat leaves Palace without a win in six matches.
But he believes his players must take the rap for another dismal loss.
Taylor said: "It was totally unprofessional for us to lose that game.
"I can't understand why our players don't sense danger from corners or from throw-ins.
"It is something that we work on in training but it just didn't happen for us today. It was an unprofessional performance."
Taylor felt Marcus Tudgay's first half equaliser was the turning point and said: "That was a frustrating goal to concede
"We should have been 1-0 up at half-time but we just could not hold on."
