Wayne Andrews
Wayne Andrews has admitted he had a "hunch" his contract would not be renewed after the club revealed they are letting him leave on a free transfer, by Stuart Pink.
The 28-year-old was told by Bob Dowie on Monday his future will lie away from Selhurst Park after a two-year spell.
But typically Andrews is looking on the positive side and will be meeting his agent this week to discuss his future.
Andrews said: "I can't say I didn't expect it but it might be a blessing in disguise as I just want to go out and play.
"My agent has said there are offers in the pipeline so I'll sit down with him and see which is the best offer for myself and my family."
The popular frontman was bought by Iain Dowie as a striker after he played under the Palace boss while at Oldham. But due to injuries, Andrews was converted into a right winger and looked to have found a new lease of life.
But typical of his Palace career, Andrews never got a real run in the side and the chance to stake a claim for a regular place.
"I know it's a cut throat business in my position so I knew if I didn't score I wouldn't play. It's a shame because I was never really given a chance."
But despite his lack of first team opportunities Andrews admits he does not regret joining the Eagles and will leave the club with some great friends and memories.
"I had to join Palace, I could not turn down playing at that level," said Andrews. "The best moments would have to be my goal and making my debut. I would like to thank the fans for all the support they've given me.
"The boys are still my mates and if I'm not playing on a Saturday I'll come back and watch from the stands."
Meanwhile, as revealed in the Croydon Guardian last month, Aki Riihilahti will also not be offered a new deal and is likely to return to Finland.
