Crystal Palace's reserves went down 3-1 to away to Coventry City.

A Kevin Thornton brace and strike from Stern John gave the Sky Blues a three-goal lead within the first 23 minutes.

Tommy Black went close to pulling a goal back after his shot was cleared off the line. Lewwis Spence then fired a superb 25-yard consolation late on.

It was Palace's fifth straight defeat and they slump to 10th in the Premiership Reserve League South.

Palace: Wilkinson, Fray, Wilson, Borrowdale, Straker (Drayton 54), Berry, Spence, R Hall, J Hughes, Black, Grabban. Not used: Banks, Swaibu, Peltonen, Kudjodi.
