September 13 2005

Andy Johnson

Andy Johnson

Goals from Andrew Johnson and Clinton Morrison weren't enough as Palace lose out 3-2 to Reading.

Johnson struck in the first half, 3 minutes after Reading had scored the game's first goal.

Shortly after, Palace were delt a major blow when Johnson limped off to be replaced by Jon Macken.

Straight after the break Clinton Morrison scored his second goal for Palace since his return to the club to put Palace into a 2-1 lead.

Leroy Lita put Reading back on level terms after 68 minutes.

Gabor Kiraly came to Palace's rescue twice, saving a penalty, and then saving the retake after the referee adjudged him to have come off his line for the first.

Iain Dowie was sent from the dugout soon after, furious with the referee's original decision to give a penalty.

Despite Kiraly's heroics, he couldn't stop Ibrahima Sonko from scoring Reading's third goal after 87 minutes, to leave Palace pointless.
