Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace were formed as a non-league team in 1905. One hundred years later, they find themselves in the Premiership and a lot has changed in the last century...
The original club crest of the Crystal Palace and today's badge with eagle addition.
The first-ever kit was copied from Aston Villa in 1905 and today's strip is the modern-day red and blue stripes introduced in the 1970s.
Palace's first ground was the cup final venue of Crystal Palace in 1905. After brief spells at Herne Hill and The Nest, they moved to Selhurst Park in 1924.
Sir Sydney Bourne was elected as chairman at the club's first meeting and remained in the role until his death in 1930, aged 77. Palace fan Simon Jordan bought the club from adminstration in 2000 for £10.5m and four years later, helped steer the Eagles back to the top flight.
John Robson was a successful manager at Middlesbrough and took a number of players to London with him when appointed Palace manager in 1905. In his innaugural season, Goodman won the Second Division of the Southern League, and the following campaign, knocked Football League champions Newcastle out of the FA Cup quarter-finals before leaving at the end of the season. Former Oldham boss Iain Dowie joined at the end of 2003 and took struggling Division One Palace up to the Premiership via the play-offs.
The original Crystal Palace team of 1905 won the Second Division of the Southern League in its first season. The 2004-5 team began the season in English football's top league.
This programme for the game against Southampton, priced at one penny, is from Palace's second-ever season in Jaunary 1907. The front page has "The Glazers' Notes" and hails the team after the magnificent cup defeat of giants Newcastle earlier that month. The February 2004-5 Eagles programme against Bolton, priced at £3, features crowd shots on each cover.
