Striker Sandor Torghelle came off the bench to score for Hungary in their 3-2 win over Iceland, in a night of World Cup Qualifiers.

Torghelle had missed Palace's last three Premiership matches with an ankle injury sustained in Hungary's friendly with Scotland last month.

Eagles boss Iain Dowie was angry Torghelle was picked for the national side's trip to Iceland despite being injured and have lodged a complaint with FIFA.

But the 22-year-old striker came on as a 66th minute sub and made it 2-1 after 75 minutes as his side ran out 3-2 winners. Gabor Kiraly played in goal.

Michael Hughes was sent off for Northern Ireland in their 2-2 draw against Wales, at the Millennium Stadium, in Cardiff.

Hughes brought down midfielder Robbie Savage with a tackle that probably deserved a yellow card. But as Savage got up he grabbed Hughes' shorts and Hughes pushed him to the ground.

Italian ref Domenico Messina gave Hughes his marching orders and later controversially sent off David Healy for his goal celebrations. The Irish were 2-0 up at that stage but Wales came back and levelled the scores.

Aki Riihilahti and Joonas Kolkka both played in Finland's 2-0 victory in Armenia. Gonzalo Sorondo's Uruguay travel to Argentina on Thursday.

On Saturday, Riihilahti scored his ninth international goal for Finland in their 3-0 win at home to Andorra. Clubmate Kolkka also represented his country.

Elsewhere, Hughes' Northern Ireland lost 3-0 at home to Poland; keeper Kiraly let in three goals as Hungary were defeated 3-0 in Croatia; Ivan Kaviedes was sent home from international duty with Ecuador and Sorondo did not play for Uruguay.
