Crystal Palace
It looks as if Crystal Palace will not be signing Steve Staunton on a permanent basis as the defender is on the verge of rejoining Aston Villa. The Birmingham club are looking to ease their injury crisis.
Staunton was recalled by his club Liverpool last week after spending a month at Crystal Palace, but manager Alan Smith was keen on signing him on a permanent basis.
The 31 year-old defender played six games for the Eagles but he has attracted the interest of his former club Aston Villa.
Villa boss John Gregory looks set to sign Staunton on a free transfer if they can agree personal terms.
John Gregory said: "We never wanted Staunton to go and ever since he left we have
missed him. He is a good player and great in the dressing room."
