Andy Johnson
Crystal Palace got back to winning ways with a 3-1 win against 10-man Blackpool at Bloomfield Road in the third round of the Carling Cup.
The Tangerines got off to a bad start when keeper Phil Barnes was sent off in the 15th minute for deliberate handball outside the box.
The Pool did not have a stopper on the bench and had to play left-back Gareth Evans in goal.
Scott Taylor was earlier inches away from getting on the end of Martin Bullock's cross to give the home side the lead, while John Murphy later headed over the bar.
New Eagles keeper Thomas Myhre then made a great stop to deny Taylor's header.
Palace took the lead on 24 minutes thanks to Andy Johnson after Wayne Routlefge put him through on goal and he fired past Evans.
Evans then had to tip Dougie Freedman's header over the bar and Jamie Smith had a cross-cum-shot off against the bar.
After the break, Evans made a good save from Johnson before he turned away a Michael Hughes free-kick from the edge of the box.
Palace doubled the advantage in the 62nd minute from the penalty spot after Simon Grayson hauled down Johnson in the box and Freedman put the spotkick away.
Three minutes before the end, Johnson got his second goal and Palace's third with a strike from the edge of the box.
Then the Seasiders pulled a goal back a minute later when John Murphy headed home Mike Sheron's cross.
Palace: Myhre, Butterfield, Symons, Derry, Smith (Borrowdale, 90), Johnson, Hughes (Watson, 90), Riihilahti, Routledge, Freedman, Shipperley.
Subs not used: Berthelin, Fleming, Tariq Nabil.
