The reserves moved into the next round of the Surrey Senior Cup with a 4-1 victory over the Met Police.

Robert Smith put holders Palace into the lead with a fierce shot from sub Ade Akinbiyi's cross from the left byline on the stroke of half-time.

On 70 minutes, Ben Watson doubled the advantage for the visitors with a spectacular goal. He got on the end of keeper Lance Cronin's goal kick and fired a 25-yard shot from the edge of the box into the top left corner.

Five minutes later, the Police got a goal back. From a corner, Cronin saved a short-range shot onto the bar and a Met Police player scored from the rebound.

David Hunt made it 3-1 in the 78th minute with a cross-cum-shot which went into the top corner.

With four minutes remaining, Palace got the fourth from the penalty spot. Gareth Williams was pushed in the penalty box and he picked himself up to score from the spot.

Palace: Cronin, Routledge, Borrowdale, Togwell, Soares, Hay (Granville 20), Watson, Hunt, Nabil (Akinbiyi 20), Williams, R Smith (Antwi 56).

Subs not used: Dobson, Gibson.
