I went to a dinner and he was the speaker. This just before the England job. Hearing him first hand would say He has total self belief He has the aura of a winner whatever his supposed shortcomings so am happy to see him do well for us
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Oh dear. Most people on here seem to be unable to differentiate between self belief and arrogance so it won't be long before everything that goes wrong is blamed on his arrogance

This is something I was shocked to hear on here with Pardew and now Big Sam.. Surely, you want someone with self belief coming in as your leader. Yes, pardew was bordering on arrogance but every news conference I watched of his I left thinking "it's going to be alright, he knows what he's doing" (admittedly this diminished the more times we lost) I admire Alan Pardew for attempting to turn our team from, the counterattacking team we were two seasons ago to a more expansive pass and create Arsene Wenger style.possetion based team. This was a bold and brave move and not only a tactical but cultural change for CPFC. I was trying to be optimistic but had a real doubt as although this style is great to watch, it can be exceptionally frustrating if you have 65/70% possetion of the ball and end up losing the game 1-0 (just ask arsenal fans). Mr Parish and co have obviously looked at it and realised that what pardew was attempting for our team just simply wasn't right for CPFC, which I now reluctantly agree with. The DNA of our club,is that of an underdog and our football under big Sam will surely translate this onto the pitch once again. You will see by my history on here that I don't comment too often but when I do I feel it's pivotal periods in the teams history and this is no exception. We are understanding our qualities, what makes us great, and build for a few more years in the premiership, get a upgraded stadium which I'm sure is top priorities for the Americans and then potentially revisit what pardew attempted at a later date Have a happy new year guys and up the palace !!

What Mr Parish actually expressed was that they had "Bought into" the more expansive approach but alas it hasn't worked and now was the time to "Rewind the dial". At the end of the day, we are in a relegation scrap and in such a situation have the perfect person in Allardyce to extricate us from our predicament.
