Pedantry alert! Isn’t it shoulder ‘charge’ and not ‘barge’? It always used to be called that, but maybe it was always a colloquialism ie not a term used in the laws. Anyone know? Barge.

Newcastle-Shearer looked geniunely happy at the prospect of a Zaha injury. Thus putting palace at peril in a straight relegation fight with the Magpies. Newcastle to survive the prem with a bunch of mediocre journeymen. Zaha removed from a rival.
but its not ok to have a worldy fella down in the smaller clubs ?

I agree with that. A player can get a wrongful yellow for diving and you can't appeal it, or a player can get a yellow for what should be a red card but it can't be upgraded to it. That needs changing more than we need VAR.

I interpreted the interview slightly differently. he's obviously not happy about the constant fouling, but I thought he was having a go at referees. He was criticising the referees bias towards fouls on him, not so much the fouls themselves. So when Shearer and Linekar said it was a compliment (referees supporting opposition fouling of Wilf!) it really showed up their ludicrous bias towards him!

How funny would it be if a Newcastle player got sent off for fouling Zaha. Shearer will go into meltdown on MOTD

"Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live, Deeney said: 'You take it in turns kicking him. I know no one wants to hear that, but you go; "You hit this time, you hit him the next time", you don't have the same player tackle him because you know you're gonna get booked."
