| Roy plays 4-4-2 which requires two mobile runners up front.

| My point is not an anti-Benteke one.

Not saying we should wait, just saying the suggestion that Roy has a system in place designed for two quick, mobile players is obviously not the case given he plays a striker who doesn't score every week because he can hold the ball up. Roy obviously believes that the system needs a "big man" Believe me, I'm as frustrated about his inability to score a goal as everyone else, however, until we have a player who can hold the ball up and win headers like he does (Sortloth or Wickham?), then I imagine Roy will keep him in the team.

To begin with maybe, but towards the end of last season, Wilf & Townsend featured together a few times even when Benteke was fit. And at times they were devastating as a pair. I agree, and always have, pretty much completely with what others have said regarding Benteke. He is by no means a bad player, and if you take away your anger for his poor scoring record in recent times and actually watch him play, he does contribute a hell of a lot more to a game than some would have you believe. He’s a target man, but an intelligent one, he’s not so much about brute power & strength, more movement & height, and his link up play is fantastic at times. However, as others have also pointed out, the problem for me personally is he just does not fit the system that Roy plays. His system is one of high intensity, and we always look more dangerous playing under Roy when we bring the ball down and look to play. It’s just not his game and never has been, he is what he is. That doesn’t mean Benteke is s***, he could join an Allardyce style team tomorrow and I guarantee he’d be banging goals in for fun. I just don’t see how he ever fits in with our current style of play, sadly. Edited by Mstrobez (23 Aug 2018 6.09pm)

Really? Townsend scored twice in the league last season; both in games we lost If they want to try a more mobile forward alongside Zaha then Ayew is the obvious choice

| Not including Wilf as a striker, we surely have the worst set of forwards in the league?
