He's 33 next month, 1 year on his contract. By next summer he goes on a free, or we-re resigning someone who's 34 the next month and off to AFCON in the winter. Looked excellent under Hodgson's slow paced tactics - Player of the season for me at one point - then looked very exposed under Glasner's high tempo. For the front 3 positions he's now competing with Mateta, Edouard, Eze, Kamada, Sarr, Franca, Rak-Sakyi. I think £4m is decent business. Anyone who wants to see Franca / Rak-Sakyi develop has to recognise that Ayew is a barrier to that. £4m isn't small change either - it funds an extra £40,000 wages for 2 years, or puts a big dent in the agent fees/signing on fees etc. we'll have accumulated over the summer. Very good servant but I think it's time to recognise it's a good deal for everyone and move on.

Wouldn't want to see him going to another English team.

All very good points, he has been a great signing for us but it does look like it’s time to part ways unfortunately

I’m sure we will take £4M for a player who cost £2M if he wants to pursue other football objectives. If he’s good to stay like Joel with limited minutes and possible 1 year roll over contracts then he’ll stay. Don’t think the club will force him out!

I think I saw that the club would accept £5m for him. Assuming that's the case, I would hope the club will have consulted Jordan before quoting that fee.
