I might not be popular for saying it but it still seems an unlikely reason to quit your job. He doesn't actually owe us a reason at all. Have some respect.

I might not be popular for saying it but it still seems an unlikely reason to quit your job. Why? Events like this make you look at your own life. He has no need to work financially. He is a multi millionaire at a time of life where many people retire. He can earn more than most just by being a pundit. Gets to spend more time with is family too.

I might not be popular for saying it but it still seems an unlikely reason to quit your job. If he was a young man you may have a point but he's nearly 63, able to collect his state pension in just over 24 months. I think it's a very likely reason to quit your job if you were in his shoes.

It might not be the reason to quite your job, but if you're already thinking about it, then it might be the thing that finally tips the scales.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

Doubt any of us are in a position to pass judgement on his state of mind after something like that has happened unless you've suffered something similar. I'm not going to underestimate the impact something like that would have and like people before have said, he's a very rich man and can afford to make such decisions. The fact that he has left prior to a survival bonus being paid (this is all guesswork, surely the board would protect the money as they did with Pulis) may suggest something - you can see in these circumstances it being paid early and him being wished well.
