Well, I seem to have watched a different game to the OP We sooo nearly scored and defended reasonably well. Schlupp was pretty good and miles better than what we are used to on the left. Punch and Jimmy Mac were rocks, Benteke seemed to have more heart and that is possibly because Loic added so much. Everton were better than us overall but by less than I was expecting, we are improving. Hope it's not too late.

We all know we have a difficult run-in but Remy and Schlup looked good today. If we can hang in there and get Wif and Sako back I think we will have a great squad and will actually finish well out of the relegation positions. But we do need a left back NOW.
First match 5th October 1974 - not a good day! |

Anyway, did not Benteke hit the bar and force an excellent save? I think it was dann who forced the save in the second half. I was right behind the goal and couldn't believe it didn't go in. Winder savery. ...fine margins.

A much better all round performance. Same here, worked much harder and showed some quality at times. Keep this up.

On top of that, Remy looked like he was wrestled off the ball for a blatant penalty in the first half. We've not had much luck this season, which has compounded our frightful form.
If you come to a fork in the road, take it. |

The OP is completely wrong. The team and the formation today was the first real evidence of Sam's imprint on the team. And it was an innovative approach going to 3-5-2, using the limited resources to the best effect. I thought we looked good, particularly in the first half, before tiredness clearly had an impact on Remy and Sclupp. This was so much better than what we have been served up for some time. I am hopeful we can get out of this mess.

Who goes for 0-0 at home when ur in the bottom 3?? 4 points in AP's last ten games and 2 from 5 under Sam. We are so much worse.... It took Sam about a dozen games to get Sunderland playing decently, and then they scored 27 points in 19 games. Under AP we scored 11 in 19, then another 14 from 17 (this season). Our form has not changed at all. However, today was the first time in months that we have looked like we might actually keep a clean sheet. Whether that small bit of progress will continue, is another matter.
If you come to a fork in the road, take it. |
