If it was say the Germans away, mcarthur plays. But the flip side of the coin is strachan. Not playing mcarthur away to Georgia in the euro qualifiers cost them big time, the guys outstanding. Slowly for me becoming one of the finest midfielders ever to wear our shirt. Fully expect as it's half time and drawing he'll be on. spot on, all about tactics, game time etc
This was once a quality forum.... |

Both very good players on their day. No need to diss Bannan. I wasn't dissin Bannan, more so Strachan. I didn't see the game but it appears that Bannan played his part and Jimmy Mac showed why he should've started.

Both quality players. Would've loved to see them together in a palace side!

Bannan looking decent though actually. A few cracks at goal. Sheffield Wednesday seems to be a favourite of Sky and I've seen them several times. Bannan now plays as a defensive midfielder and was Man of the Match in the last game I watched. I was rather hoping that Wednesday would be promoted last season so that we could see exactly how good Bannan could be in the Premiership given a decent chance

McArthur is a hell of a player and universally underrated. Successive Palace managers have known that and if Strachan can't see it he's an arse. Bannan was decent last night. Scotland lacked quality and clinical finishing. One frlt that they might score by bundling the ball into the net in a goalmouth scramble with all the posession and pressure they had but there was little threat of a telling shot or finish. Another player Strachan should have started was Leigh Griffiths. Chris Martin was pretty wasteful.

Both very good players that I have a lot of time for. McArthur would be my preference though if pressed. Bannan's stature is his Achilles heel. Why Strachan didn't start with both of them is a mystery to me.

Strachan is a muppet of no common order. As well as predictably launching into his "unlucky" speech he then banged on about how Chris Martin was the best player on the park. He was in the right places but his finishing was completely pony.

I thought we played like a decent team last night. A decent League One team. Well done Scotland.
