For a variety of reasons, moving, no internet, illness etc I haven't been able to post or even watch too much Palace for the last month or so. Liverpool was the first time I've really had to sit and watch a game properly and I was impressed throughout, not just the last 15 minutes. I was worried about Pulis taking over, even though I had said before he joined that I felt he was the only person who could possibly keep us up, because I didn't want to play like Stoke. Sorry but I don't, the thing is though, whether through choice or necessity we haven't. We are playing far more football than I expected, but thankfully not overplaying, which is every bit as bad as long ball thuggery. We play with a purpose and that is all you can ask for, because there has to be an effort to actually be effective and not just play around for the sake of it. Bar a spell where we didn't even try to win matches, it seemed, I have been pleased with the style. The spell against Soton, Utd, Swansea etc seemed to be of a team too busy learning what was required of them to actually focus on playing football and this it seems was the case because now positioning is no longer an issue the actual ball playing skills of the players has returned. So Mr Pulis carry on, but if you do resort to long ball thuggery in the future I won't be backing you so heartily, just so you know. Posted this here because I couldn't think where else to put it, hope that's OK.
That's Life And as funny as it may seem Some people get their kicks stompin' on a Dream. KEEP THE FAITH!!!!!

Yes Palace did seem to have more control of matches towards to season's end. But the teams they played were still looking to press on against a team they probably saw as inferior upstarts. The question(without wanting to become boring) is if the opposition regard Palace as the better team, as Palace did v Chelsea, L'pool, Everton? This really means changing basic tactics a great deal and trawling the market for the players to do so. Can Jedi etc do the job? Not sure. Except Ward and Cham, not sure about the rest...though I love them!
The core of this team controlled games in the championship last season. With the wide players we have, we're more than capable of unlocking defences.

I didn't read as many answers as others have done. The future looks pretty murky going on what KM writes. He's kind of right about the counter attack method working in a team's favour, but that is only when opposing teams are allowed to attack. What happens when your team needs a result and the opposition are happy to hold back? Palace will surely now have to play players like Bannan and Williams, creators, the type of player TP doesn't like using. What would Millen do in that situation? He doesn't say.
Although we used the counter attack to good effect at home, towards the end of the season we were controlling games in the oppositions half at home and away.
One thing you cannot do anything about is pace and as we saw on Monday night against Liverpool, Yannick tore the Liverpool defence to shreds inside 12 minutes and he did the same away to Everton.
Man after my own heart!.Pace is the ace in any strategy!. As a nipper I was faster than a rabbit on the pitch and I left behind all and sundry as I scored goals galore!.My belief in pace was developed by Eddie Brown the Birmingham City center forward of the late fifties and early sixties who scored a lot of goals at breakneck speed!. He said if you can leave the opposition trailing your chances of scoring are limitless. I confirm what you said,Yannick did indeed tear the scousers apart in a matter of minutes. I hope Pulis will continue to believe in pace because it could be the answer to our future.
