It's a simple one for me. We are likely buying a soon-to-be 29 y/o Murray, likely for about £17m. It's not amazing value, nor is it dire.

Unless he scores a lot of goals between now and end of season I would rather not sign him. There is definitely better options out there and we have just been forced into taking him now due to it being January and our current lack of strikers. Same goes for Bats*** from Chelsea.

The question we must then ask ourselves is whether the need for a player in that position is urgent or not. We could do with a new right back for instance, but it's not urgent. Ward is nearly back and Kelly does OK there too, so don't buy an average right back now, keep looking and bide your time. The centre forward position however is perhaps another kettle of fish entirely.....
