After he left us he signed on loan for Alaves who are 16th in La Liga.
He has made 17 appearances for them this season.

What I am trying to say is not, he is a Messi but he is the type of player we are desperately crying out for. If you remember he had a very good season in the PL with a poor Cardiff side, scoring some long range goals. I don’t know what went wrong at Palace but would have liked to see him given a chance, is that such an outrageous ask?

Spain. What I am trying to say is not, he is a Messi but he is the type of player we are desperately crying out for. If you remember he had a very good season in the PL with a poor Cardiff side, scoring some long range goals.
I don’t know what went wrong at Palace but would have liked to see him given a chance, is that such an outrageous ask?

He rates Hodgson, lists mitigating circumstances and thinks it would be harsh to dispense with him. However, he does point out that we have only finished once in the Premier League in 7 years with a points total lower than the current 42 points. He also is of the view that there is always scope for change , in particular if there is a ready made replacement available. I think this is a key point. If a manager that Palace like the look of became available at the end of the season would Palace be tempted to move for him to avoid the risk of missing out on the appointment of a potential long term successor to Hodgson. Does the club take a short term or longer term view in these circumstances?

The Palace fan and journalist Dom Fifield writes a piece on Hodgson in The Athletic this morning.He’s usually well informed on Palace related matters.
He rates Hodgson, lists mitigating circumstances and thinks it would be harsh to dispense with him.
However, he does point out that we have only finished once in the Premier League in 7 years with a points total lower than the current 42 points.
He also is of the view that there is always scope for change , in particular if there is a ready made replacement available.
I think this is a key point.
If a manager that Palace like the look of became available at the end of the season would Palace be tempted to move for him to avoid the risk of missing out on the appointment of a potential long term successor to Hodgson.
Does the club take a short term or longer term view in these circumstances?

But without finding investment or a sustainable way to raise funds it will be a struggle to entice any proven manager to us.

He’s also unhappy with the Burnley wage policy inasmuch that guys like Hendrick are not being re-signed at the end of their contracts. Palace are likely to be able to attract better players through paying higher wages. It’s also doubtful he would get a top 6 club. You then start to think he may have limited opportunities and Palace could be an option.
